We thank all the members, including the many new members, for attending our luau. Although the weather moved us inside, it didn’t dampen the warm and welcoming spirit of our club members or the event!
A huge “thank you” to our hostesses, Brenda “BC” Czech, Brenda Fryers, and also Brenda Stitch, who helped with decorating. Yes, three “Brendas” working together! BC Czech and Brenda Fryers, and their significant others, Dave Czech and Tom Bellehumear, who also hosted the luau last year, prepared their delicious sweet & sour chicken and baked ham. With all the members’ potluck dishes, I don’t believe anyone went home hungry. Your four hosts for the evening put in many hours of planning, shopping, cooking, setting up, and cleaning up after. They deserve a big hand for all their hard work!
Thanks to our photographer, Marian Knorr, again for taking our photos. Marian helps us create “forever memories” of our events, not only on our website “KRMidwest.com” but you might see your photo in the Royal Times – last year’s group of ladies dressed in a Hawaiian theme were even on the cover!
Karen DeFontes, who sweetly presented each participant with a lei, also opened the luau with a prayer, and Deb and Dave led us in singing “God Bless the U.S.A.” as we closed our fun event. Thanks to all of you who jumped in when you could see an area where we needed a little help, such as Larry Davis, who was in the clubhouse for another meeting and hopped in to help decorate. Or the ladies who, when it appeared we might have run out of plates, ran out to get some from their other club’s closet. Winnie Metz helped make temporary badges and as always, our trusty Treasurer, Pam Alvord, was on hand to accept 2025 and New Member dues. As we’ve always said, this is a “high member participation” club. Helping out and wearing your Name Badges is what helps to bring our members closer together.
Mark your calendar for the May 13th luncheon in the East Wing of the clubhouse. You’ll receive an email invitation later this month. Please plan to attend as it will be our last get-together before our summer break. Your host for May will be Forrest Coleman, whose luncheon theme encourages us to share and celebrate our family Heritage.
