Rosie Mitchell

From our president, Shirley Cunningham:

We recently received the sad news that long-time Midwest Club member, Rosie Mitchell has passed away.

Rosie Mitchell was the hostess for Mike and I’s first Midwest Club event in the fall of 2019.
She was a whirlwind of activity and joy! Rosie really knew how to throw a party! We had so much fun that we knew this was where we belonged. Her warmth, kindness, spunkiness, and ability to include everyone inspire the club to this day.

Rosie and her husband Mitch were fixtures at our “meeting” until Mitch’s sudden death in March 2023, just three days after attending our luncheon.  Rosie attended last year’s English luncheon at the Friar Tuck restaurant and the previous Christmas party at Glenda and Dan’s home. After losing her beloved husband of 60 years, Rosie struggled to recapture her zest for life.

Shortly after becoming president, the clubhouse staff asked me to update the club’s “Charter”.  The copy on file was from July 2017, when Rosie was President of the “Ohio/Indiana” Club!”
Last evening, while talking to long-time member Janet Nestel, she told me she remembers how difficult it was to have a functioning club with its limited membership. At that time, they were considering merging with the large Michigan club. As we can see, Michigan was not the only Midwest state we included in making up the base of the large club we have today.

Update: Rosie Mitchell’s funeral will be held Saturday, April 5th at 11:00 at Becker Funeral Home in Clermont.
806 W. Minneola Ave., Clermont, FL 34711

Rosie’s address: 3501 Westerham Dr.
